Approached by Chrisp + Waterhouse, an interior design practise specialising in projects within the hospitality sector, we were tasked with creating bespoke banquette seating to cover an expansive area. Pasture was launching their next venture in Birmingham, and we jumped at the chance to help make this happen.
The brief was to create seating to fit a large venue that can host up to 180 diners, laid out to fill every corner and create intimate nooks. Chrisp + Waterhouse were keen for the seating to match the industrial interiors but to create a cosiness, which is what the focus pieces achieve.
The banquette seating that runs along the central passageway of the restaurant as well as the edges is designed in our flute and roll style, with the tan leather fluted back complimented by a black and white pattern fabric roll edging. The upholstery mix creates a sophisticated finish that looks great from any angle while providing a comfortable bench for diners to relax on.
Alongside this are circular booth seats that happily accommodate up to five adult diners in a fluted back style. These were upholstered in a black leather upholstery cover to match some of the freestanding chairs.
Finally, a row of three back-to-back booth seats were made and installed to line to the walkway between the kitchen and main restaurant space. Made in a horizontal panel style, the three panels emulate the roll style on the other banquettes upholstered in a deep red patterned velvet. The booth seats are great for smaller parties to enjoy an intimate dinner while also providing proximity to the fire-based cooking.
It was an honour to work with Chrisp + Waterhouse on such a substantial project and we are delighted with how the banquette seating fills the space and ties together the entire interior design. Photography is courtesy of Stevie Campbell.
